You guys…I have news…I MADE A PODCAST! AHHH!!!!
I know….what are you thinking, Brittany? Well, I had some time this winter break, and I kind of started a podcast! I’m actually pretty nervous about announcing it. While I’m used to posting blog posts and have been doing so in some form or fashion since high school, posting a podcast that has MY VOICE on it where other people can hear it is so much scarier. I feel so vulnerable, haha.
But to be honest, I’ve been toying around with the idea of a podcast for kind of a while now. I personally enjoy listening to podcasts, and there are just some topics and ideas that I’d love to share, but just would be too long to write in a blog post. Vlogs are also cool, but I admit that I’m not particularly interested in video editing. Editing audio is much more manageable, and I have a little experience with it from college. And so, “The Salty Gaijin Podcast” was born.
“The Salty Gaijin Podcast” (named after this blog, of course) is basically going to be a series of mini “culture studies” on various aspects of pop culture, Japanese culture, and the global cultural moment with a Christian perspective. I wanted to show how Christians can still meaningfully engage in culture, either by actively participating in it or thoughtfully thinking about it from a biblical standpoint. It’ll be mostly me talking, but I hope to have some friends occasionally pop on the show to add other perspectives, too.
It’s all very exciting, I know. What’s even more exciting is that it’s now available on all the main podcast listening services (Spotify, iTunes, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, and Amazon Music). I have two episodes up right now, and I’ll be posting on a biweekly schedule. Sadly, I simply cannot commit to once a week at this time. I’m too busy. But each episode will post at 7pm on Tuesdays in Japan, which is early Tuesday morning for the U.S.
If you’re into podcasts, want to hear a Christian perspective on a vast array of topics, and/or just want to listen to me talk for half an hour, definitely give it a listen.
