Sado and Shalom: Special Podcast Episode

matcha green tea in chawan (traditional Japanese tea bowl)

Perhaps you’re unfamiliar, but sado is the Japanese word referring to the traditional Japanese “tea ceremony.” I had the privilege of participating in a tea ceremony event at my church this year, and was also invited to give a Bible message. But how on earth do I connect a traditional, originally Zen Buddhist ceremony to the Bible? In this special podcast episode, I recorded my message from this event, where I delve into the original Zen philosophies of Japanese tea ceremony and offer a biblical alternative: shalom.

It’s a little more formal than my normal content, but I invite you to listen to hear how I understand the elements of tea ceremony, and how God ultimately offers us a better peace than sado ever could have hoped for.
