As an English teacher living in Japan, it’s rather commonplace to discuss the differences in communication styles between the U.S. and Japan. And let me tell you, there are many. But, I feel like most of my students (and fellow teachers) talk about these differences as if one is better than the other.
So, in this episode, I decided to analyze some of the ways Japanese people communicate differently than Americans. Not necessarily to see which is better; just to clarify the differences. Then, I went and looked at what the Bible has to say about how we should communicate with others. As a Christian, the Bible and God work as a pretty good standard for comparison. (Spoiler: diversity of communication is key.)
